Trying to find a movie I saw when I was a kid...don't remember title or actors?

The movie was about a young girl, I'd say between the ages of 10 and
14 with a really cruel, maybe abusive mother or stepmother. The girl
had some stuffed animals and dolls that were her best friends. In the
end, the mother takes the girls toys away from her and locks them in a
closet, I think. The girl is devastated at first but then she makes a
new stuffed friend from a sock.
